Q.1
Preferred Memorial Options

Information from fire affected communities suggests three options for memorials. Considerations for these options includes:
• Maximum community benefit within a limited budget,
• Providing appropriate recognition/representation to all affected communities,
• Providing appropriate places to meet the needs of affected people including:
- quiet, reflective spaces;
- honouring those who lost their lives;
- remembering the range of losses;
- recognising community spirit;
- linking fire affected communities

Q.2
The Memorials Working Group is proposing that the names of persons who died in the February 09 fires be included in the memorials, except where a family specifically requests that names not be included. Do you agree?

Q.3
From the first stage of consultation we understand that community members wish for the following considerations in the community bushfire memorials:

• Natural elements including rocks, gardens, trees and water
• Messages including respect, remembrance and reflection along with survival, recovery and community spirit be conveyed in the memorial.
• Recogntion of the broad range of losses including property, pets and wildlife, but in a manner secondary to the loss of human life.
• The story of the fires should be told through interpretive elements to provide context into the future and visitors
• Linking the memorials through some common theme

Do you agree with the above?
